My angels are just starting to get decent size as ive had them about 6 months, and i was wonderingg if i should still be feeding flakes or if i should upgrade them to some kind of pellet or other. Their ALWAYS begging for food now even though i feed them about three times a day. They grew way faster than i thouht possible and this is my first attempt with angels.

Flakes are one of the worst foods you can give your fish, imo. Give them pellets like Omega One, Hikari, or NLS, and/or more natural foods like krill, brine/mysis shrimp, bloodworms, etc.

I do give bloodworms as treats, and they do pick at the occasional krill i give my buterfly fish from time to time, if i make them a bigger part of their die tdo you think theyll be more satisfied? Ill have to try smaller pellets next time im by the lfs.

Flakes are fine. I feed my Angels exclusively with flakes once they get beyond dime size. From free swimmers to dime size I feed them newly hatched brine shrimp. I Start mixing in crushed flakes after about 4 weeks as free swimmers. I still have eight breeding pairs. I feed them once a day now and they still breed constantly.

Yes, that would definitely give them a healthier diet.

For one thing, check the ingredients. Most of them are 80% fillers and <20% actual nutrition. And flakes tend to sink down to the bottom before the fish get to them, so they just decay and produce ammonia.

I agree. Also because of large surface area to its small mass, it quickly looses most of the nutrition anyways.
angelfish will always be hungry, even if theyre full lol

They're beggers. Angels are notorious for not knowing when to stop eating. I had a friend that had one he would feed every time it begged and it died from over eating.
