ok so we have a pair of angels in the past 2 days one of their stomaches look like it's going to explode, and it's papila area is red it eats fine and poops fine and other wise is perfectly normal, So question before an angel lays eggs does it get noticably larger, and how do you tell a male from a female? I'll try to post these pics but this angel is shy so wish me luck

That looks like a full stomach. The difference between males and females is during breeding, the male's papilla will be long and narrow, while the females will be shorter, and wide.

How much has he or she been eating? I agree with WyldFya, looks like a full stomach.

It is right after the first water change I've done with them in the tank and watching this one now it's always picking in the rock but I don't over feed, man do i feel like a noob you would think by now i should know the difference between a pregnant fish and a really full one! LOL I've only been doing this for 20 years. but me and my wife are new to angels. thanks for the input.

Attached is a photo of my female after her spawing. You can see the breeding tube nub on her belly still present after laying her eggs. This breeding tube became visible when she began vigerously cleaning the spot where she was going to lay her eggs.
I don't have a pic of the male w/ his papilla showing. But I hope to get it one when they do this again. Pictures speak a thousand words :)
Good luck!

cool I'm assuming one is male and one is female, but who knows my intention is not to breed just to enjoy, I guess I'm still learning angels but everyone here is very helpful thank you all

my guess is the one who laid the eggs is the female :)
