I am having some problems with my angels. I cant seem to keep them alive. I was worried about the pH but it is at 7.4. I tested the amonia and it is at zero. i have bought a dozen angels over the last 3 months and they live for 4 or 5 days and then they just die. I have other fish in the tank that do just fine. I feed regularly so i think they are getting enough food so if there are any ideas floating around please let me know.

What is your nitrate level? Angels are sensitive. You need a good water change routine.

what happens to them before they die? do they lose colour, lose scales...breathing for air - any symptoms? have you tried buying from another lfs as well and the same thing happens? coz if it does then maybe it is ur tank. but if you buy them from the same lfs maybe they just had the angels and they were weak.

i just tested my nitrate levels and they are 0 ppm and i do a 10% water change twice a week. when they die they show no signs that they are sick. yesterday i got home from work fed them and they all were fine at 4 o'clock by eight 3 were dead. Both sets of angels were bought from pet co but they were different pet cos if that makes any difference. thanks for your help i will just keep trying

try and buy from another place and see if it takes a difference. IMHO some angels can be very hardy. after cycling my tank, the next day i bought six juvenile angels, and its been three months and they are still here! don't lose heart, try somewhere else - not petco.

what food are you feeding them? has it expired or gone off? try some other food maybe? hmm this is weird. but dont give up.

I am feeding a wardly kind of run of the mill fish food i bought 3 weeks ago so i dont think it is bad. I also feed cichlid flakes which is just as new. Just keep those ideas coming we might figure this out eventually

What else do you have in the tank?
What temp?
Any other illnesses in the tank recently?

add plants to the tank, (live ones that provide plenty of hiding spaces and will make them feel comfy) and lots of hiding places, then buy some angel fish from somewhere else, feed them live bloodworms once a day and see what happens.i think you should try this out, just to see if the angels from another shop make a difference. try to buy about 4 or 3 and just keep the stress of moving them to a minimum, post your pics up from the day you buy them and just keep the water at the same temps when you do your changes. how about that? :)
