Hey all. I'm trying to solve a problem. I've got a 55g with nine angels, all about 5" from tip of the dorsal to tip of the anal fin, with bodies around half-dollar size. The most recent additions were two months back. Three of the angels are black, and I've noticed in the past few days that two of them have had serious damage to their dorsal fins, maybe half eaten away. My wife works in the room and I've asked her to watch for the culprit but she hasn't seen anything.

Tankmates include a 5" senegal bichir, three small (2") tiger loaches, a small (3") synodontis cat, a some small bristlenose plecos. The bichir is very active in the daytime, but no agression towards the angels has been noted.

Any ideas? Is something turning nasty at night maybe? Could it be "angel on angel"? There's lots of posturing going on between them all the time but I've never seen any damage done.

Thanks, and Happy Holidays to all.

senegal bichir would be my guess, but until you see it, you just won't know.
