i keep getting mixed reviews on angels and different tank sizes. i currently have a 36g corner tank, 34" across 24" deep and 22" tall. its got a good amount of plants and 6 1" apisto agassizii. i've been throwing around the idea of an angel in there or two. i'm running an xp3 as a filter so im pretty good in that department. a LFS got some beautiful black angels in and i wouldn't mind picking some up. i have a 55g that i would prolly move everyone over to in a year or two when i get some more room. is this doable? if so how many would you recommend?

If you only have the six agassizii, you could probably get away with three or four angels. Lots of plants to hide in and watch for aggression, and you've got a pretty good chance of it working out.

three or four angles would be ok in that tank, optimally more room owuld be nice

It doesn't really give them much room to get away from each other when the chasing and quarreling starts. Angels do well in deep tanks because of their height, but they also need horizontal swimming room. I usually grow out small groups in 55s, but even that gets cramped when spawning activity starts.

If the fish are smaller, you could do a group of four and then upgrade them as they grow.

Yeah this is one of those would this workstories that would actually work haha I prefer discus but I would say 3-5 angels depending how much space there is displaced by plants etc

I agree with this, Angel Fish can get pertty brutal with each other. It may work for a while, while they're small once they grow a bigger tank will most likly be needed.

so far they are doing great. i've had them a week now. at first they hid in the back of the tank for 3-4 days but have recently been coming out. they ate like pigs yesterday for me so thats a good sign. two of them are veil tail while one is a normal black. i will try to snag some pics tonight
