So, I just went to give my fish their second feeding today, and one of my angels was struggling in the filter current, not staying upright. He had no signs of injury or stress. This morning he was fine, dancing around for me and attacking his flakes. He's still fairly tiny, only about the size of a quarter. I took him out and put him in a 1 gallon, with only a few inches of water so he didn't have to struggle to stay upright. I put in a tiny pinch of salt too, just in case.

I don't know if it's necessary, but my PH is 6.8, ammonia is 0, nitrite less than 0.05 (tank is still kind of new). Test doesn't do nitrates, but my water quality seems good, no bubbles or scum or fog (is that relevant?), and 80 degrees.

Anything I can do for him or just wait it out?

Well, he's vertical now. I doubt he'll make it. Too bad, he was pure white/ incandescent and pearl scaled. I've been reading up on swim bladder problems, but nothing too helpful has come up.

Edit: I'm going to try a pea and then I won't feed for about a week. I'll update then.

Maracyn 2 should help swim bladders. You can get it at almost any pet store that sells fish. I bought mine at petco.

Thanks for the suggestion. He had hung in there for a while, so I ran out and got some Maracyn 2. But... he didn't make it. He wouldn't eat his peas even when I blanched them with a crushed clove of garlic. He seemed to get better the third day, so I moved him to the 10 gallon qt, where he got some Maracyn. He went that night. He was so cute. :( But this is good in a way, because now I know what to do if another fish has this happen.
