I have a black angelfish that is about 5 inches long and I think it is bullying my other fish. I have a 55 gallon with a gar, black ghost knife, Bala Shark, Angelfish, Raphael Catfish, and a Leaf fish. They all seemed to be getting along but now the shark and leaf fish are getting marks and what looks like bites. I think he may be bullying them because he is always chasing them. Is that normal for angelfish or is there just not enough room?

Some individuals can be pretty aggressive. Overcrowding will definately make it worse though.

Despite thier delicate, winged appearance, angels can still be terrors in the tank. Your Bala Shark is a fast open swimmer so if he's starting to get too big, that'll explain the bumps from hitting objects. If the angel is causing too much grief for the other tankmates, consider rehoming him or placing him in a tank where he will be ok.

Def a little crowded....BUT I am not going to go on about that :) I have a sevrum that is the BOSS of his tank. He owns convicts, sajica, another sev, and a chocolate cichlid....The xinguI does not receive this treatment as he is the most aggro fish I have ever owned.....diff fish do diff things ,....And get a bigger tank sonn...real soon...:)

Even in non crowded tank, they still bite other fish that come near to them. They are really vicious when you add a new angelfish in the same tank.

My 2 black angelfish consistently bitting my archer fish and moonlight gourami but they never bother my bichirs although they are slow moving.

Got a pic of that angelfish? Do you have any hiding spots in your tank? Angels are generally only aggressive toward other colorful fish such as angels, discus, rams, and gouramis. When they're ready to breed they get territorial when other fish come near. I've never seen it attack any of my bichirs though.

Since when does an angelfish attack a fish regarding its colouration? :screwy:

Ill try and post a pic in the morning. I dont think it is color because the shark is silver and the angelfish is black and they dont resemble eachother at all. As for the leaf fish he is green with black spots. I think I might sell the shark or one of the fish to make some room to help ease the tension.

My angelfish is plain silver. Why would other fish have to be colorful for an angelfish to attack them?
