well, my angelfish pair decided to spawn in the main tank, which is a 60 gallon planted. in it is just a pair of discus and a clown loach.

for 2 days they protected the eggs well and it was good, but gradually, the eggs started declining in numbers until finally all were gone. i saw my male eating some of the eggs. what i thought was the pair was stressed from having the tankmates "annoy" them, but i don't know.

anyways, now i placed them in a 20 gallon high with a tera cota flower pot as see if they will breed there. what my plan was that when they start spawning again hopefully on the pot, or wherever, is that i am gonna seperate the parents from the eggs with a screen divider so they won't be able to eat them.

my worries is about the eggs that will get fungus, will it spread to the fertilized eggs?
when they become free swimming, am i gonna be able to take that screen divider away and let the parents and fry reunite for the parents to care??? or will they eat the babies?

Thanks!:D

nope they will eat them. GL

I did the same thing pretty much exactly. The eggs all died (fungus) on day 2.

I think you should give the parents a few tries raising a batch because they breed so often.
