They act like a pair much of the time, then break down to fighting once in awhile. The silver will hide behind a piece of slate after they go at it until he's healed up. Then the romance begins again.
 
Mine do the same exact thing, act like a pair then one will hid until it is healed up and then go at cleaning an area. But none of them swell up with eggs like my other one female does...
I wonder if it is two males?....

I've been wondering the same thing. Two males would make sense. They weren't even supposed to be a pair. I bought six. The double black died on the first night, the next two wasted away mysteriously even after anti-parasite meds. The next one never grew so we moved her upstairs where she lived about eight months, finally wasting away. I didn't want angelfish anyway, too inbred and weak on the whole, but the wife was pretty set on them. So these are the two left alive.
