Hi folks,
I have been doing water changes yesterday and today. I have a planted 40gal that has been fine until now. The water seems fine, but my angels have refused food for two days now. They were eating fine before I changed it. There is only a pair in there and they are not that big....maybe 2inches not counting the tail. They are marbles that I have raised from about dime size and they paired off quite early. They have not bred, but I have tried to keep them from that till the male is a bit bigger. (he is younger than the female)
I have read they will do this if water quality is not good, or if stressed. They don't seem stressed. Color is good, no breathing hard, etc. I have tried frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp, flakes, pellets; all of which they usually run to the top for. They just look at it and watch it fall to the bottom. What did I do?
The only major thing I did besides a water change was trim several plants. They seemed to be getting crowded and I mowed down the water sprite that was out of control over the top and now they have much more light. Could the change of brightness do this, and can I fix it? Can I do another water change? I put new cartridges in my HOB filter, but didn't bother the bio-bed. I have done this monthly since I got these guys.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I love these guys and wanted so badly to eventually breed them. My silvers breed like rabbits no matter what I do to prevent it and they have stormed thru all sorts of catastrophes. I had to separate them to stop them. But these have seemed to be a bit more temperamental.
Thanks

. Its behind a plant and hard to get a shot, so I used my phone to try. Forgive the bad pix. Is this eggs? My silvers use a plexi slate or the heater if I am not wanting them to spawn, but it's always very clean around the eggs. So I have never seen it like this. And they don't look fertile, being so white, but you pro's tell me.
