Hey all. I have a pair of marbled angels. The two have spawned in the past, but fry don't survive to the free-swimming stage, and that's okay with me. I don't have any interest in breeding them, but did enjoy the fact that they didn't fight with one another. They were in my 110 community. I have a mix of several schools of tetras, hatchets, clown loaches, and corydoras in with them. This week, I moved everyone into a 125 when it became empty due to its previous inhabitants moving into a 180. This is the standard 125, so it is two feet longer, but about a foot shorter, than their previous 110. When the angels got settled in, the male began chasing and nipping at the female. They are the only angels in the tank. I finally got tired of watching her cower in the plants and seeing her fins get nipped, so I removed him. He is currently in my 180 with the silver dollars and gars. Is this separation enough to re-establish the pair after I add him back to the 125? How long should they be separated? Will the separation help at all? I really want this pair in the 125, but it is such a peaceful tank that his presence is not welcome if he's going to be aggressive. Any pointers here would be great. Thanks.

BUMP for the male angel, who is getting a little nervous living with the gars.

I think you should have used a rubbermaid tub or a spare tank for measures like this. All it takes to operate either of the two is use both heater and sponge filter.

Thanks. I don't think the angel will really get eaten. Some of my silver dollars are the same size as he is, without all of the fins that make him look bigger. It was a joke -- I wouldn't put my fish in danger, or I wouldn't have them in the first place. But I'm trying to figure out if it made sense to separate them, and how long I should keep them that way before trying again. This is a heavily planted 125 gallon tank, and it can be difficult to take him out. I'd like to know for sure, and I figured someone else may have gone through this, and would have some advice.

BUMP just in case someone has had a pair encounter a domestic dispute.

My angels are doing the same thing. They spawned twice, then the male got all agressive towards the female.
