Hi, I thought I'd post this quick question as I'm to impatient to wait and find out the answer!
I have 6 angelfish and bought them for breeding, and I understand that its kinda high percentages for 1 or even 2 pairs out of 6.
I have a platinum which is chasing a few others, not doing any damage and the chase usually only lasts a second or two, is this fish trying to pair with another?
Also, is the platinum angelfish worth more other than common angelfish like marbles? I was led to believe by the seller it was £35, would that be a legitimate price for one?
Thanks guys!

I'm not sure if the plat is trying to pair so much as establishing dominance. When pairing, you will usually see them lock jaws with each other and do a little tug-of-war. Once paired, two of them will usually stake out an area of the tank and chase all others away and often try to attack others that just come into their line of sight.

How large is this platinum that they're trying to get that much for? Seems high to me.

Well its not that big really, probably 3-3.5 inches long including the tail.. They arent trying to get that much for it, but i bought a group of 7 including the platinum and he claimed that he payed £35, was just wondering how much it is actually worth? :P

Thanks for the help btw!

I'm not sure how much plats go for but a nice sized adult would probably fetch a pretty penny. It also depends where you live & if they are in demand since you will get a higher price if they are.

I agree that it sounds more like dominance then pairing. Pairing up will involve lip-locking & close combat of both Angels that can last a couple hours or even days.

My Angels started breeding when they were the size of a Half Dollar(us),that doesn't include the fins or tail.Just the body only.Just feed them a variety of foods and keep up with the water changes and they will breed for you.I have had some of my Angels breed in my 90 gallon with 9 other angels in the tank. The pair just takes turn keeping all the others away if they got to close to their eggs.
