Ok so I have a pair of Kio angels that I can't get to spawn. I for sure have a male and a female. The problem is I cannot get the female to gain any weight. She is extremely thin and I have been feeding her 6 times a day with Frozen blood worms and brine shrimp, Freeze dried blood worms and brine shrip, some pellets and 2 different flake foods. When I take water from one of the tank of another breeding pair and put it in their tank the male drops his tube but the female never does. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

As you said your female is very thin, I assume that she is not in the right condition to spawn. Try condition her first before trying to breed. Also try to put sme broad leaf plant when breeding.

what temp. do you have the tank set at? cichlids like to breed when the water is in the mid 80's. you should set the temp at 84 degrees

What does the females feaces look like? Is it white and stringing? If it is, then she might have an internal parasite hexamita. What temp is the water? What pH? Do you have a spawning site i.e. a piece of vertical slate, tall leafed plant, breeding cone?
