Hey all, I was considering getting some clown loaches for my 75 gallon but I noticed what may have been an ich spot on one of their tails so i didn't mess with them. Instead there was another tank that had a single polka dot loach in it, I like the look of these guys and went ahead and got him. Do these loaches need to be schooled together the same as clowns? I am planning to get 2 more when they are in stock regardless. So far he has decided that he is a giant danio and swims around with my school of those quite often :P

Mmk, I plan to get 2 more as soon as we get another shipment

They sure are neat! They look so similar to yoyo loaches, I wonder if they would school together or if they somehow "know" the labels we put on them? lol.

They'd probably still school, I know different strains of tiger barbs will so i'd think schooling loaches would be similar - dunno though if i can't find anymore of these guys he might end up with some zebra loaches as friends - though so far he seems totally fine not being in a group

Yoyos and kubs don't school together. They prefer their own species.

I keep a group of 7 polka dots. I love them. They seem much more active than the yoyos I used to have, don't know if this is typical, but I sure enjoy it. At least one is always out loachy dancing all over the tank.

Watch out for velvet (and ich of course), as they are known to carry it.

Also, you should try to keep at least 6. I know a seller that has them in stock and ships wit guaranteed live arrival. PM me if you're interested.
