Animal bones or antlers + horns = bad

Hey guys, i recently witnessed a fellow fish keepers tank in my home town who thought it would be a good idea to put a set of deer antlers in his tank. Turns out that this is a very bad idea (and very ugly idea) Within days his tank turned a gross brown and smelt like rotten flesh. It turns out that antlers have blood inside them, and even months after they are tank will still contain blood. I've read maybe even years. All real animal bones will decay and break down aswell and smell horrible!!

Odd, I have a friend with bones and antlers in a huge tank and has had no issues. Maybe those were too fresh to be added, I dunno...

ive read this before on here from another MFKeeper on a past thread.. he had the same issue

If wanting to Add any Bone, horn, tusk, or antler to your tank u need to boil them first for about 2 hrs on a low boil
