The ninth amendment of the US constitution says, simply put, that the natural rights not listed in the constitution cannot be denied to the people. One could argue that the right to animal ownership is a constitutionality protected right, correct? Animals have been owned since the dawn of man, and it doesn't infringe on the rights of other people. Could this be used to argue that laws preventing the ownership of certain animals are unconstitutional? Or am I stretching it?
