anyone have ever had one of these? caught one of this in a nearby river here in the philippines. anyone know if they can be kept captively?
In a general sence yes, in some places fortunatly they are still common but those are exceptions to the rule, in most places they have at least declined and in some they are close to total extirpation, no wonder considering the numbers captured for chinese food markets. And the situation can get WAY worse fast, Cuora amboinensis is not a very slow breeder but its not a fast breeding turtle either. Considering the demand they can easily enter a situation of completly unsustainable overexploting in all of its range, wich in a medium term cenario could mean that this species would join the group of the critically endangered ones.futureless;4523350; said:is it endangered? because i'm in indonesia and coura ambonensis can be found easily here
