Amongst the Catfish & Plecos
The Shampupa Pleco or Panaque sp. 'Peru' pleco, finally was given an L number in October 2008. I ran this info by planet catfish last night, and it was added within a hour. These guys were on top of it! Anyways, I got one of these guys from Rich, owner of Infinite Aquatics, like 6+ months ago. If I remember correctly, Rich got these in as Totanicus plecos, and that's what he sold them as. They were labeled as closely as I'm sure he could at the time. Great vendor, no criticism from me for not having the exact match on something scientists hadn't even id'd! For anyone who bought one... Congratulations, you have something incredibly cool. :headbang2

Edit: Click on broken photo image. It shows up then. Can't figure out why the photo won't show up otherwise. I've had this problem several times before...

thats a brilliant fish. Very nice buy. How much did u get it for?

I think it was $150. When i bought it, I knew it was something different. I don't cough up cash like that regularly. I wasn't sure what it was, but I didn't have one and I had never seen one. For a pleco, he's pretty active and usually hanging out in the front during the day. I see him more than of my other plecos (and I have a few...:naughty:). Oh, and Rich has one left and he's not sure if he just wants to keep it or not.

can you take a pic of the one you have and post it? Perhaps get the one rich has, you might have a breeding pair :)

If you click on the 'broken' picture image, it will take you to the link and show you the image. I don't know why its not cooperating...

And, while I would love to get another one, I have to say that my tank is already severely overstocked, and I do not want to add anymore fish in fear that I would just kill everyone off. But, breeding would be so cool.
