hi all. yes yes, i am working on picking up my 3rd 125 today. and thought i'd ask here for some stocking help. i have tons of SA/CA cichlids already. and i was wanting to try something new. me and a buddy were contiplating and thinking of ideas. here is what we came up with.

sand substrate (prolly white pool filter sand), i got a really nice piece of drift wood for it. maybe couple of fake plants for corners.

i really want a aro. all of u guys great pics and lovely looking aro's out there. also was thinking of couple geos. maybe some brichirs (spelling might be wrong). i've been seeing these more and more aval, in my area. maybe even a ray of some sort.

any thoughts on this? any other suggestions? ideas and advice welcome :)

i would do a small stingray sp., mabe a retic or sumthing, and a BUNCH of bichirs....... and u cant live without dats :)

i would skip the aro tho, it will outgrow the tank, tank first fish later.

if it was mine it would probably look like this:

(1) Polypterus Ornatipinnis
(1) Polypterus Delhezi
(1) Polypterus Weeksii
(1) Polypterus Palmas Polli
(1) Potomorygon Reticulus (spelling)
(1) Datnoides Cambelli (NGT)
(1) Thinbar Dat
(1) Indo Dat

or instead of the dats oi might do a shoal of swordspine snooks...........

but thats just me....

also i wouldnt put geos with a ray, ive heard stoys of them picking at the rays disk

125 isn't really a good home for rays or aros. If it were wider than 18" I would have no problem putting some rays in a 125 though. Also I would maybe do a speices tank with some bichirs or something. I wouldn't put dats in there because EVENTUALLY they will outgrow that tank.

i thought a 125 was 2'wide and 5' long?

dimenasions would help us, Fishfreak

also, fishbase states that all species of dats stay less than 18" long, this mabe wrong, but ive never heard of any dat over 18" aside from pulchers, was among the list i suggested.........correct me if im wrong........

yeah footprint is 72x18. i've never seen dats anywhere near me. couple local store have few different specie of Polypterus. how long you guys think it would take the aro to outgrow the tank? reason i ask is within 2yrs i will be upgrading to a much larger tank. working on buying a house to house the monster tank. tank will be modeled after the atlanta aquarium asian aro display. :) if anyone has been there. tiny bit smaller. maybe i will give up on the ray idea. for now!

an arow will grow anywhere from 1" to 2" a month. I;ve had mine for about 4 months and its 12" when i got it at 6" so thats pretty quick.

I would do some bichirs, and a nice mid dweler fish.

u could do an african river biotope, with like, 4 different bichirs, one of the larger mormyrus Sp. of mormyrids, a few african b-flys, and a group of ctenopoma kingslea (spelled wrong). hell i dont know, im a prehistoric monster lover myself, gars, bichirs, mormyrids, but i love dats as well........but ive only got my NGT for now:cry: , need more tank spacev:drool:
