another aba aba thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They are cool but mean as hell. You can't keep them with any other fish and who wants a single fish in one tank? Gets really boring IMO

I wouldnt call my aba mean, just a piscivore... hes very good at being a predetor, but hes been beat up by smaller fish that i thought would become snacks for him...

as for the size a 125 should last a few years ... i agree that at 18" they slow down alot. atm my brucey is in a 40 breeder thats a low light setup with some plants and enjoys hiding and dare i say playing around them. hes about 1 yr old and was 3" or so when i got him. i would say a 120 would last 4 yrs with the extra depth for turning space ect and a 180 being ideal... but a 125 may work.

btw love the set up egon!

Wow awesome set up Egon. As much as it pains me I think I am going to hold off on the aba aba. I am just not comfortable getting the fish without knowing that I will definitely be able to upgrade. Thanks for all the input.

Thanks!

If you get an opportunity to buy one you should. It could be years from now before you see a 1 foot Aba available. They seem to be very rare at 6" and larger. The small baby ones are typically more common but very difficult to keep alive.
