I know there are a bunch of threads on catfish ID's, but here's one more. I really like cats, but not to sure what this one is, it is a guy that has been messaging me and he is not sure what kind of cat it is. I told him I would post his video and see if I could get an ID on it for him. Thanks for taking a look.

Like I thought, the upside down cats are in the Mochokidae family, and genus synodontis, i'm just not sure which speices it is. It dose look kind of like the common upside down catfish (Synodontis nigriventris), just wasn't sure if it could be Synodontis nigrita, or if it could be any of the other species.

that looks to me to be an upside down cat

Yea, I have been asking for a clearer picture of it from him, but this was the best he could do, he says he hardly ever sees it. I'm going with syno though, probably an upside down catfish.

hmmmm hate to go against the crowd but that doesn't look like a synodontis to me. I'd have to guess something from family doradidae. The video is obviously horrible for id'ing but look at the thickness of the head and mouth area and the curved pectoral spines...very very doradidae...

BUT...its a really fuzzy video...could be anything.:)

Your very right, it also looks like it could be from that family also, looks a lot like a spotted raphael catfish which is from that family. I really need to get a good picture or better video, this one is really bad and makes it very hard to tell. Thanks for going against the crowd though, your makeing me think about this a little more.

nope not an upside down to big and its not a asian upside down catfish either catfish looks like a chocolate rapheal if not its some kind of doradidae
