Guess it's the festive of Channa retail therapy along with Christmas. Recently acquired another Channa species that I can't ID, here's a picture of it -

photo-7.jpg

Apologies for the under exposed image as fish is currently in a quarantine tank with no lighting. Would like to learn it's correct identify so as to provide it with the necesary conditions to keep it at it's best. Many thanks in advance for the help.

you can see the tail ???

Too bad pic to tell anything, sorry. Use extral lighting, or the flash of the camera. Put a dark blanket on the white floor, so the refelction of the light can not make the pic blurry

Pelvic fins, no pelvic fins? Seems like the same fish i recently acquired as well.

Judging from the redness around the snout area, body pattern, if it doesnt have pelvic fins, id safely safe im 80% sure its a Channa Sp Burmanica

Burmanicq grows to a size of 102cm from I've found on the net. This would mean I will have to offload this fish as I was under the mistaken idea that this is a dwarf Channa. Bad bad bad.

They do make mistakes now and then regarding fish info on the net. Ive a strong feeling that these are indeed dwarf SHs.

Lets just enjoy this SH and see what becomes of it in time. Do update on how the channa's doing now and then. :)

surely not ! 102 mm is more correct ;-) BUt I think they grow a little bit larger. But surely not up to three feet !!

I'm in the midst of cycling one tank that is more conducive for the snakehead. Will be excited to see how the fish develops as I supposed this is a relatively new Channa sp. in the hobby.

P.S. Great to learn of another snakehead emthusiast from the Little Red Dot :)
Would love to see your snakeheads and tank setups BTW ;)

Hi, how's the actual maximum length of the Burmanica? Really have no clue what size of tank I might eventually need for this fish.
