so cal
My tank finally cycled and I'm going to add fish soon. The main fish i want is a jar... yes i read the sticky and no this is not really a jardini compatibility question but since i want the jar to be the primary fish in this tank i thought id put it here instead of one of the other sections.

So jar is for sure. I would like to do bichir (not sure what type but leaning to ornate or endi.) considering a dat, I sorta want to do a royal pleco, and or some type of cat.

tank is 175 with a good wet dry filter. what do you guys think? Should i do one bichir or several? one or 2 dats or none at all? Lets hear some ideas.

Also should i add the fish all together or seperate em. I want to start with babys.

true dat yo!
i have a jar
the jar MUSt be either the new intro'd fish, OR smallest in the tank.

get everything first and have hiding places.

i am weary of bichirs with jars, i trie this and the jar harassed them untill they died.

the jar will generally leave them alne, but it has a streak where it will just suddenly snap cos its bored. then it attacks.
as mine got older, it settled down
but bichirs tend to be hiders, and make sure they have hiding places so they feel safe.

other than that, i suggest faster swimming fish
maybe to distract the jar, when you put the bichirs in there, put a couple of cheap tinfoil barbs. so the jar can spread out its anger, and tinfoils are cheap, they can be canon fodder

tinfoil idea is clever ill probably do that!

A tinfoil will only get harass by the jar. I have a 20" jar that hates bala sharks and tinfoil barbs. It actually hates anything that are speedy. I also have bichirs in there size are 9-21 inches.

Here to give you an idea. Tank is 275g. Will upgrade to 1000g soon.

bichirs, datnoid will do,ya some of my aros dont like speedy fish but my jardini is cool with it

owned two jars about 3-4 inchs each. both jars got their asses wooped (dead) by the wide bar dat i had in there. two different jars. two different dats. dont know if thats the best idea...

try either a royal knife, or gold clown knife, or a regular clown knife. those g's are freaken sickkkkkkkk. but they are fast growers and very teritorial fish
