I picked up a cracked 30g for free. The intention is to turn this into a sump. I'm thinking pieces of lexan glued to either side for some rigidity and to seal it. Any other ideas are welcome and appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve.

I'll give you a cracked 20 if you want it too. lol

Should be ok as long as you use PLENTY of silicone

Yea, just silicon the hell out of the crack, maybe even run by home depot and pick up 2 glass panes and silicon them to each side of the cracks. I wouldn't use lexan, you might not get as good a bond as you would with the glass panes, and I'm pretty sure the glass is cheaper there. It's usually in the Door and Windows section.

Maybe I'll buy some glass. I was only going to use Lexan because I have a bunch of 1/8" pieces. I know I'd be better off w/ glass because then th ematerial properties will match.

Don't worry about me not using too little silicon. I've never been accused of not overdoing something like that.

use glass and only patch the inside.. lexan or acrylic will not bond the plastic to the glass and will warp with time.. ths cracking the silicone..
