Another DIY filter..... with video of it in action

I made another filter this weekend... this is the same design as the one i made for my acrylic tank...same dimentions as well. Identical really, besides a few minor changes that make the filter a bit better functioning and more stream lined... Since i didnt post a video of it mine, i thought i would post one of this one as they function and look the same.... The video is it in action as well as explaining how it works....

This filter is not for me, it was made for a friend.....

where did you get plexiglass from ?

what are the dem of the sump tank,i was thinking of making one for a upcoming project of two 300,so whay would you say for one 300 gallon sorry speakers suck

I got the acrylic for EM plastic in dartmouth, Nova scotia...

I will be taking another video of the main tank and filter shortly as well...

The sump is 48x20x12

This filter could handle a 300gal easily... I would say this filter could run as much as a 400gal... depending on stocking and overflow setup.

All you have to consider when sizing a sump to a tank, is how much extra water it is able to handle if the power goes out(dont want a flood) and how much media it can hold... you dont need a huge sump for a big tank...
Most will reccomend 1/4-1/3 of the total volume of the main tank... i dont go by that.

The pump chamber has a 19x19" footprint.. really not all that big... room for all of the planned equipment... It doesnt just hold a pump...

I like to shoot for 2-4x's the tank volume an hour for a wet/dry....

In the video, was a spare Mag Drive 7 i used to test the filter.... for my my tank, i am using a Quiet One 6000
