I’m starting to think my ebjd male is sterile.

This this the 3rd batch of eggs that have all moulded ? these eggs are two days old

I always miss the egg laying event so I’m not quite sure if the male even tries to fertilize them. He does protect them with the female though. They would be a lovely couple of their eggs would hatch.

Just give them some time. They will figure it out eventually

Some of those eggs are fertile but may become infected by fungus because parents aren't eating the bad eggs. Like stated give the pair more time for experience.

You think so? I was having problems determining opaque from tan....opaque being not fertilized and tan being fertilized....

She def does not pick out any white ones at all.

I go in after they are laid and hand pick the first set of white eggs there’s usually not more than 10 white eggs. Then in the next 24 hours a lot of eggs turn white and I do not pick them out bc it’s random and a lot.

You stated the eggs were in their for 3 days. Is that correct? Also suggest placing slate or a smooth aquarium safe rock in the aquarium. Then you could remove the slate or rock into a hatchery aquarium and add a few drops of Methylen Blue.

Yea the day the picture was posted was the 3rd day. I also keep my tank temp between 78-80 so I expect a longer hatch time.

Edit: they have flat rocks and flat slate in the tank but always choose the clay pot. I even tried putting the slate inside the pot
