I have had another accidental death, my 3 inch flagtail somehow got into the suction or the fx5 and into the filter

Sorry to hear that man....Place an intake-guard....Make one out of Home Depot Depot PVC and attach a strainer......

he may have had one on. the biggest downfall to the FX5 is the flimsy way the two parts of the strainer attatch. they can easily seperate.

if this was the case, use a tiny plastic zip-tie or a bit of aquarium-safe epoxy on the tabs to ensure it wont open again.

if you just dident have the strainer on in the 1st place, i second chesters comment

i did have the factory strainer on yes but it still fit inside somehow

it does sound like that could be the case, an otherwise healthy fish might not have gotten like that easily
