regarding the poll I often study the fish I buy before I buy but sometime they throw me for a doozy. Yet, sometimes I buy a fish just cause I like the way it looks and figure it out later. Like for example it seems like the petcetera near us here is shutting down this weekend so I went in for a last looksee and I picked up 3 jaguar and 5 of what were labled gold saum but were actually firemouths so I got those 8 fish for 24 bucks and I do have an empty 70g in my living rooom with 1 feeder fish in it so now those 8 are in my tank there, they are all under 3 inches so tanks good for a while. I do have empty 168g, 180g and 300g so when they neeed the room I got it.

Well I thought I would start a thread where I could just post pics of my fish without starting a new thread all the time. As well, I thought it would be a good place to share interesting pics of my fish when I take them like today for example.

One of my baby tiger shovel nose fish got his back broken and almost bit off by one of the baby bichir in the tank with him, so with great hesitation I moved the other baby tiger shovel nose to my corner 45g with great concern that it will actually snap up one of my buffalo heads I have in there.

As I am looking about the tank I notice that one of the buffalo heads has actually ingested one of the minnows from the tank and it has the tail sticking out of its mouth, now I am not to worried about whether the shovelnose will eat it but more wondering if it will choke to death on the minnow which is as long as it is .

Will post a few pics later.

so I went through my recent photobucket pics and thought yall would like to see this one

every since I have introduced minnows to get my spotted gars growing for the museum tank this bichir has turned into a regular hunter, I was right there for this kill if I had a better camera I could have gotten better pics but here are motion shots as best I could get them from the time of the strike

it is so funny almost after he nailed it he made sure to come to right where I was to show me then off to devour his catch

so my 45g that I moved my remaining tiger shovelnose to I was worried about my shovel eating my buffalo and found my buffalo has a taste for minnows

haha that bichir pic is awesome.

That senegal looks proud of his catch! It's almost like a cat showing off the mouse it killed to its owner.

actually the bichir did like 2 whole laps around the tank showing off its catch before it stopped to eat the rosie red.

I love keeping fish they are so full of personality

So I got this email from a fellow fishkeeper asking me if I was interested in gettting some of his fish for free a jack dempsy, bleekeri and a small female convict and if I wanted to buy his big oscar for $25.

Here they are as I put them in the tanks, I particularly love how the bleekeri morph their color due to their mood.

Nice tanks, you have quite the collection.

My Polys do the same, they never had live from 2" to 8" but then got moved to a tank that gets fed live sometimes. First time I dropped in minnows both Polys (Sens) snatched up feeders like they would never see one again. I had no idea they were such predators.

Well I actually did it!!!:WHOA:

I was able to curb MTS and get me a new camera rather than fishie stuff or a new tank

So armed with my new camera I got picture happy :naughty:

Here are some shots of some of my fish what ya think? I find a digital slr fun to take shots with

honestly the biggest ram I have ever seen I simply had to buy it to put it in my geo tank

IMGP3096.jpg

1 of 5 gold severums I was given for free from a petcetera to make up for 1 giant gourami that died on me from them whoooooot heck of a trade to me

IMGP3099.jpg

a recent tank set up using the white wall to give an effect I wanted to try I kinda like how the white makes them pop and the shadow effect is kinda neat

so I decided that I would go back to petcetera and snap up most of the fish they had left since they have totally mislabled and underpriced them to begin with and add to that they have a 2 4 1 sale going on. just wanted to drop a few shots of the many fish I got from them last night. I have also lately really wanted to do a flitter tank filled with small schools of various fish and this seemed like a killer chance to score lots for cheap.

got 3 or 4 of these and lots of the yellowish ones in the back drop

2 of these

IMGP3237.jpg

there are about 6 other kinds of little fish pristillas etc... to many to take pics of

the oddities taht I found hiding behind decor an stuff were a loach of some type looked like an eel but its in the substrate so no pic, a bala shark and a ram.

I am really surprised at how good the fish look considering the condition but all these fish were just brought in from another store they shut down in alberta so that might explain it. Their tanks are full of long flowing green algae I just had to buy all these guys

here are a couple of shots I took of the baby aro I bought my daughter, has a nice black tint to its fins and down its side different that the usual silvers around here
