I have a chance to get a 6"-7" Male Fly River Turtle for only $320! I will not be telling who he is and I hope he doesn't say anything about it too! But I am 100% getting him when I have the time to make the trip down to where he is.

I was wondering if this price is a steal? As I think it's a hell of a steal of a deal! When I do get him he will be going in with my pair of Motoros in the 180 gallon which is filtered by:
1 FX5
3 HOB filter (400GPH+)
1 HOB filter (100GPH+)
2 Powerhead (total of 400GPH+ movement)

I do daily waterchanges of 20-30 gallons of water.
Do you guys think this setup will work? Any tips and hints on FRT as I have read lots of threads and webpages about them. I just want to further my knowledge into these guys.

Thanks all!

Amazing Deal! Its a STEAL!!!

if 320 convert back to canadain, your FRT is slightly cheaper than mine ;)

Jealous***

If you tell me who he is, Id steal the FRT from you :D

Thanks I know it's a steal! :D
It's just that too many stuff is happening and I just can't make the time to go down there quick enough! I will not let this deal slip by me no matter what! I hope to update everyone here with pictures next time when I make another FRT thread.;)

that's a very good price.

don't feed it too much protein or the turtle's shell will grow too quick and develop shell curl.

if you feed prepared foods, check the nutrition label and make sure the maximum protein is less than 30%. even most algae wafers have very high protein, which is bad.

feed fresh fruit, such as grape, kiwi, melon, etc and fresh vegetables. organic is better since it won't have pesticide residue.

WOW! I didn't know that

my FRT wont touch any vegetable, greenies and algae waffers

it only ONLY eat hikari gold cichlid pellets (medium size) and tetra colorbits
=.=;;;;

congrats on your steal. that is really very cheap for you. i believe your filtration is good enough for the FRT. you can also feed them some watercress and fruits. more plant matters in their diet is a must for healthy growth. do post pics of the FRT once you get your hands on it. :D

Thanks all for the info and will do!

Just one more thing, I am higly sceptical to you housing such a turtle with a pair of sting rays:confused: Not only their water requirements are diferent (hard for the turtle, soft for the rays) but I cant help thinking that your sting rays could potencialy kill your new turtle by stinging her if she decided to investigate by biting them. Also the oposite could happen and you arrive home to find one of your rays dead, dont forget how persistent turtles can be. I know people here do this combo, but it has yet to convince me. You should get the turtle, but defenetly house it apart for all safety.

Nope, Water hardness has no ill affect's on Ray's. There only big thing with water is Quality (clean) for Ray's and the same for the FRT. But i do agree the combo will more than likely kill one or the other. 50/50 Shot at best the live together. I keep both, And would never house them in the same Aquarium. Just setup another tank.
