Another Geophagus ID thread...

Hi--I'm a longtime MFK lurker but first-time poster that has acquired two Geophagus sp. sold to me as Surinamensis. From what I have read on here, Surinamensis is pretty uncommon. I think I have Altifrons, but I'd like opinions from some folks here who are more well-versed in eartheaters than I.

Looks like you are spot on. Spotted caudal, lack of facial markings and midlateral spot 4 scales or less. Looking good!!!

I would agree with altifrons. That tiny midlateral spot is usually the first giveaway.

How do you say Altifrons when plural?

Altifronseses.................kidding, the same plural or singular works just fine, ie "I have a group of Atifrons" or "I have a nice male Altifrons".
