Sorry for another in a long line of "heater" threads lately. I have recently purchased six 300W heaters. I can't read the "oriental" writing on the box, so I can just give this small amount of info readable from the box.

BENXIANG Shuangchong Hengueng BN-788

I have been using them since around Christmas time and in this short span have experienced very good results without a single failure.

Has anyone used these heaters? Please provide any feedback that you may have on the brand. Thanks!

Oh yeah! That's what I'd trust my fishes lives to, a heater with no name! Uh huh, sure!

I think it has a name. It is just written in a language that I can not read! I don't want to even venture a guess as to the language. The charachters appear to be some oriental style. The part that I could read I posted above. I have 19 tanks running and have gone through around a dozen different brand heaters and all the "big names" and think that every last one that I have tried is virtually worthless as boobs on a bramah bull! This is just my latest attempt at a LONG line of failed attempts!

I would get rid of 'em . . . if it's not UL-listed, you should not trust it

I did a google search on "Benxiang Aquarium Heaters", and found a link to a European Consumers Union site listing unsafe products; they listed the Benxiang BX-120 (a lamp, not your heater) and made the following comments:

Electric shock

This product poses a serious risk of electric shock because:
- basic insulated wires are in contact with accessible metal parts;

- there is no protection against ingress of water;

- the mains cable has an inappropriate length;

- single-pole mains switch is used.

This product does not comply with the Low Voltage Directive and the European Standards.

While I certainly share your desperation in heaters ! (Trust me :) I think the best route is to go with some heat controllers. Apart from replacing all of mine with Ebo Jager (who I trust ) And when I get the extra cash. Two nice ranco controllers.

Best of luck ! I feel your pain ,
Taylor

I just purchased two of them so far they are working great
