Another House Gecko endeavor

I was at Petland today, getting coco fiber (more on that later) when one of the employees comes up to me and goes "I gotta show you something." It was a baby House Gecko, under an inch long, that they found in the store. Of course, I took it... at the store, they would try to give it crickets (the size of the Gecko) or it would escape again, and since there are all kinds of escaped critters in that store, it would become lunch.

I have it in a plastic critter keeper, with wet coco fiber as substrate, and some little twigs for it to climb on. I put the critter keeper on the shelf above my snakes so it can get some heat. I'm gonna try to feed it flightless fruit flies, which means weekly trips to petsmart

I think Petsmart is the American version of our Pets At Home and o.....m......f.....g.... dont even start me on them! I absolutly HATE pets at home. Here's my story on them:

I was down in Cambridge and I decided to have a look in one (just to see if it was better than the places up my way), they didnt have much atall but anyway a woman asked if I needed help and I said no this is not my kind of thing and she asked what was and I said snakes etc etc and what species I had, I happen to mention something about the big rats that we were standing next to and I said my python eats rats bigger than them and she said big then and walked away. About 5 mins later another woman approached me saying that i've to leave the shop on the basis that I have snakes and im "looking at the rats"......WTF!

When i worked at petco there were tons of house geckos loose. The hatchlings would turn up now and then, usually scurrying across the floor covered in dust. They did great on fruit flies and then pinhead crickets. Unfortunately the two times i raised them i was unsuccessful in the long run. The first one died suddenly after a few months. The next one was doing great until i tried to transfer it to another cage and it literally had a heart attack....or something equivalent to one.
