I'm Where I'm At
19 year old cheerleader posts a bunch of pictures on facebook of her hunts of rare big game and apex predators in Africa

facebook removed the pictures probably due to the negative public responses.

quote from facebook:

"We remove reported content that promotes poaching of endangered species, the sale of animals for organized fight or content that includes extreme acts of animal abuse,"

but I don't see how this girl's pictures did any of those things

I'm for it, the money goes to fund conservation it's not like she was poaching she had a licenses. Yes they are endangered but the article even said the few that are hunted each year won't impact the numbers what's the difference of catching a fish and putting it in a tank and it dying 3 years later way sooner then it would in the wild or killing an animal in a humane way

Legal or not, I wouldn't shoot an endangered species.

I was an avid hunter before I moved to the city, and I wish that I could get out more, but I only shoot what I intend to eat. Whether me, my pops or uncles get something, we always split it up to make sure everyone gets some and nothing gets wasted. I don't care if people have trophies on their walls, as long as they make use of the rest of it.

Edit:
As for the photos being taken down, I am guessing that they got a lot of negative feedback as suggested in the original post. She didn't really break any rules.

I think it would of been fine if she just got some conservation publicity out there with the photos. Now that it's blown up it's probably a good thing because somehow even I've seen this. Publicity is the name of the game.

Let's be super clear. Hunting provides MOST of the money for conservation efforts to keep species going. If someone hunts an elephant and pays thousands for the chance that year to do so, then there is a strong motivation to keep elephants around monetarily. In other words, we all know money is the bottom line in the world (sadly) so it is good when it is used that way, instead of in an unregulated way like true poaching. This may sound twister but its not: I'm an animal lover and I'm for it.

This^. Have any idea how many are killed by poachers? Who do you think can stop poachers and where is that funding from? Id love to see stats of selling say a half dozen permits compared to a half dozen conservation commercials and events and the money brought in.

Yeah, I shot a hippo! :);)

I have nothing against hunting, but those pictures are kind of ridiculous....

A couple years ago a species of rhino went went extinct. I wonder how much it cost to hunt one of the last five of those. I had no idea that you could purchase permits to hunt endangered species. That is the most backward ass system I've ever heard of.

It's pretty illogical to compare these animals to fish. The last time I checked none of these mammals had litters of hundreds of babies. And if you're referring to only endangered fish, I don't believe that they should be owned by me or you but my argument still stands.
