This fish was bought as "Assorted African" from Petsmart. After I kept it for a while I attempted to ID but so far the only brilliant yellow Africans I have found are labs with the black stripe on the dorsal.

Any Ideas??

The nicer labs have no black. I think you got a nice fish.
 
look up venting it will work with all african cichlids of size... this is the only way to be sure with labs... good labs should not show sex in coloration. I only know when some are by venting or they start holding... multiple labs in a tank works great...
 
Looks like a hybrid to me.

Not a lab by any means. Looks like it has some blue lines in the tail (may just be the picture though). I would tend to agree that it is some sort of a hybrid. All africans cross breed especially the Mbunas which is what you have there.

Quick venting lesson.

Male = Both holes the same size
Female = rear hole bigger than the front one.
