First off great site, tons of info and interesting discussions. I've been lurking for a while and decided to join up. I'm still fairly new to keeping big fish, kind of forced into it really but i was never really a fan of little schooling fish anyways
A few years ago i bought a pacu with a head full of misinformation (even the tag at the store said it maxed out at 8-10 inches) and the thing grew so fast and ate so many fish its not even funny! well kinda. When he got to about 5" i got a good deal on a 90g and 2 oscars which were slightly bigger then him so he could have some company since he ate all the others. Long story short after about 6 months or so he ended up killing one of the beautiful oscars and we were just recently able to find a home for the second one because the pacu is showing no signs of slowing his growth and at 18" or so its time to build him a nice big 300(ish) gallon tank before he breaks the glass on this one. hes super friendly since i used to hand feed him while he was younger (until i got bit lol) and he instantly recognizes the Hikari food bag and gets excited.
future plans besides the bigger tank for this guy include a nice 'artificial stream/river' setup for some trout and whatever kind of fish the fry from the nearby river turn into since theres hundreds of them in the pools in the summertime.
well thats my story, i'm going to resume lurking and maybe pop up on a few threads here and there until i find a donor tank for glass and some funding to start building this guy a bigger home. if it doesn't happen in the next 2 months expect it in August when i'm back from Alaska with bulging pockets!

Also excuse the ugly gravel, I got two 5 gallon buckets full of the stuff for free but its for sure not going in the next tank.
