Hello,

I'm new to the site. A few years back I had a few saltwater set-ups but have since shifted to turtles and tortoises. Now I'm getting back into fish again (freshwater this time around). I just picked up a small red-tail and tiger shovelnose catfish to join a fly river turtle in a 300 gallon stock tub. Like a few others I've seen on this site, I too am interested in GATF/VATF.

Can anyone shed some light on tank size requirements and whether or not these species (GATF/VATF) are solitary or can be kept in small groups? Thanks

Hi and welcome!

yes you can keep them with other kinds of fish as long as they are not big enough to eat it or be eaten. there are several kinds of fish that can be kept with atf's. tank size would depend on stock and size of the fish. you should check out the characin forums for more info on lighting, decor and behavior and all that other good stuff

good luck!
