So I stopped by a different LFS on the way home from work today, and they had a new pike cichlid in stock!! It was labeled Crenicichla lepidota, and they do look like that species when I look them up online. Just wanted to double check with some of the more experienced here.

They are about 2" long. I got 3 of them, with the hopes that I will have a pair form out of it eventually. Let me know what you think.

p.s. - if you can't tell, I'm getting addicted to pikes!!! :nilly:

They do look a lot like yours.

Does anyone have reliable size info for these? Looking online, I get anything from 6" max to 18" max!!:nilly:

Probably becuase Crenicichla lepidota is most likely a group of differant, very closely related species. Hence the size differances. Will be hard to pin down without the specific location.

I have no doubt in my mind that there's no way of finding out what location these guys came from. The lfs doesn't understand what pike cichlids are, let alone that they might come from different places. I'm surprised they even had them labeled correctly!

I guess we'll just see what they turn into as the get larger, and when they stop growing, I guess I'll know how big they get! :nilly:
