Hello I'm new to this forum, but have been lurking for a while. I love the all of the info here, and decided to join at last. I've kept freshwater fish on and off for thirty years or so, starting with a black moore goldfish in a bowl when I was a kid. That evolved into a 20 gallon community tank. I had an uncle that had an oscar in a thirty long, and a jack dempsy in a 20 long, and was hooked on cichlids after experiencing his fish when I was a kid.
I've kept and bred many african cichlids over the years, also had a nice breeding group of paratilapia polleni in a 125 at one point. I got out of fish for a while and back into them about 10 years ago. I've had some great rainbowfish tanks, I tried discus with R/O water at one point, and also had a cool pair of Altum Angels I loved, but am mostly keeping central american cichlids currently, I do have a nice colony of wild red humps, and a pair of dwarf pikes as well. Also in the tank with the red humps are a colony of thori ellioti/mac, and a small school of rainbows. Also have a few plecos, and one tank of tanganyika cichlids -- cyps, shellies, and comps. My water supply is very hard so I try to stick with fish compatible with it and keep it as simple as possible. I'm really into the thori, cypto, archo, central americans right now.
Cheers!!
