Another Newcomer

Hi everybody,

I'm Tref (TeeCeeJay)

Photographic Background - Former Cruiseship photographer, used film for last 15 years, just gone digital SLR with EOS 400D (very sad to see my EOS 1N go but that's progress I suppose)

Fish Background - had a community tank since age 10, tok a break from it whilst working overseas, now my kids enjoy helping me look after a 160L community, a molly breedeer tank and I've got a rivertank in progress.

Any way, here is one of the first shots i took with my 400D

EOS 400D, P Mode, f5.6, 1/60, onboard internal flash


And here is the first one I tok after reading about how you guys set up your flashes.

EOS 400D, f11, 10", manual flash discharge (hence ghosting)

I look forward to learning more and more from you guys, and sharing the results of your advice.

I think if you add a bit of diffusion you'll have cracked it. Didn't you have to do that with the older ladies on the cruises?

Yeah, that and tell them we were using 'low calorie film'. :lol:

Nice pics and agree with Allan…
And yes, using only one external flash, situated above the tank,
there is always, two things make to me a obviously negative impression -
the refracting bottoms substrate and the big deep fish shadow…
