I have see alot of oddball set up. most of the pictures i'm seeing is Dats tank have no gravel, or sand in them.

Is that something Dats like, or it's good for them, or other.

I've been owning piranha for years and I am use to putting gravel in my tank. I was wounder if I should take my gravel out or leave in there.

I also I am getting 120g this weekend. I want to know what is best for subtrast for Dat. with or without gravel.

Please advise.

Thanks.

Bare bottom tanks area MUCH easier to maintain I think is the largest part of it. I run most of my tanks BB after a long time of running gravel bottoms. The work load on my tanks is much less now. And since dats get big and put off a lot of waste barebottom just makes sense. The fewer decorations the few places for poop to accumulate also.

Its a preference. The fish would probably perfer gravel, and most people would say it looks better. bare bottom, on the other hand, is easier to maintain, people with alot of tanks will use bare bottoms alot.

slate bottom looks good and its still like a bb

to me a regularly vac'd sand bottom is just as easy as a BB as you just have to hover over the surface to get the waste much like a BB tank. Gravel on the other hand is a pain to get all the waste...
