I have a 12" oscar that spooks easily more and more. I wouldnt have a problem with this but he's damaging his head quit a bit when he darts aimlessly. Hes in a 125 Gal with other fish and is the largest by far. Water dimensions are perfect. Ive also noticed that it takes him quite a bit to get awake in the morning, just lays close bottom. when i do a morning feeding he wont eat until at least 10 am. All the other fish attack the food no mater the hour. any suggestions?

Most cichlids I've had that get a spooking problem are being bullied by tank mates. Have you noticed any signs of bullying? As far as the laying on the bottom thing, I've had a few LAZY Oscars that were slow even when it came to food.

he's not bullied. He is top dog in the tank. I think he is just slow and easily spooked. Maybe too much fish in the tank, or maybe too much decor. He has to be hitting his head on something. as for the fish, have some silver dollars, jaguar, veija, and chocolate cichlid, and a cat fish. Im going to be thinning out the tank as the other fish grow out a bit. I thought maybe the cat fish could be spooking the oscar at night?
