I recently planted my tank. While all is going well, one of the ghost shrimp I got is carrying what appears to be about two dozen eggs around. What will the effect on my planted tank be? And how many do you think will survive? I dont have very much faith in their survival, but I'd like to know my chances

If i'm not mistaken, then chances of your babies surviving are pretty much zero... since they are meant to have a larval stage where they need to be in brackish conditions before moving into freshwater...

Alright! I dont have to go and get a whole 'nother tank. Thanks.

^ yeah... i mean i could be mistaken, but pretty sure thats why people don't really try and breed ghost shrimp at home...

If you want to start a breeding project for fun, i would recommend one of the other dwarf species such as Cherry Red Shrimp or if you want a warmer water species, Sulawesi Shrimp...

Just to be clear here: the chances ARE 0. There's absolutely no way for the juvies to survive in freshwater. But definitely get your hands on some RCS, they would breed in toilet water!

Yh thats what people have told me. I replaced the ghost shrimp with amanos anyway.

Let me get this straight, I do not plan to breed anything, I was just wondering about a prego ghost shrimp.
