So as some of you know, I picked up some WC Umbees from Rapps when he first got them in. After having a stint of only getting females :nilly: I requested for Rapps to ship me over at least one male but he wasn't able to guarentee it. The reason being is that eventhough at the sizes of 6"-7", none of them really showed the full striking male characteristics. But of course there were ones that he could pick out that had more male in them. The pics below are of the assumed male that he sent me.

I still haven't really been able to accurately sex this one. I always thought male from the beginning since his/her body was more elongated and never saw the black on his/her dorsal. This was all in comparison with the confirmed various females in the same tank w/ him/her. However, until recently he/she started to color up extremely yellow when showing aggression against one of the females I have in the tank. However, I still don't see the black on his/her dorsal. Also, I see the trailers growing more and more each day. The last time I requested to have a other Umbee sexed..most of you said female and it ended up with you guys being right.

I've asked this more times than I care to admit  What do you guys think? M or F? Anyone else pick some up also from Rapps...would like to see pics of a male that was sent to you?

***The reason of course for the big stomach is that he's/she's a food hog and I just took pics when I fed my whole tank***

Dont know. Looks a lil like both. More yellow in color but I dont see the dark on the dorsal or pelvic fins. Either its well fed or he/she is getting that round shape like the females get. The only way to be sure is to vent it.

beautiful fish . . . I would guess that your search continues, but I'm sure we're all pulling for you . . .

Yea I've never seen the black/darkness on the dorsal fin ever whereas on my other confirmed females...the black/darkness is extremely apparent. Yea I'm starting to believe he/she isn't as elongated as I thought of at first. But when comparing him/her to my female...he/she has more of a elongated body.

The opositor looks female-ish to me. A clearer pic would help.
I'll try to get a clearer pic soon.

I feel your pain for trying to get a male I have that same bad luck with Dovii.
Whew....got somebody here who shares my dilema. Hahah its frustrating. The funny thing is that all the Dovii I've ever owned have always been male...I never was able to get a female.
