The Unknown...
I woke up to find that I had lost another ropefish this morning. This is the second ropefish loss that I have suffered in the last few months. I purchased my first ropefish about a year ago when I purchased my first bichirs. He has grown with them and as a result has a special place among fellow bichir tankmates. Seeing as how ropefish like to be with other ropefish I tried introducing other ropefish into the tank.

The first ropefish was smaller than my original one, but I thought that it was large enough not to be an issue. I maintained that mindset up until I turned on the lights and found it a third of the way down my Ornates throat. Attributing the loss to size I tried introducing another ropefish into the tank last week. This ropefish was as large if not larger than the original one. Unfortunately the bichir tankmates didn't take well to the new ropefish and I found that it had passed away this morning with signs that it had been attacked either before or after passing away. This is an unfortunate lesson that I have had to learn and I guess that I tried to introduce another ropefish into the fold too late. Their is no aggression what-so-ever towards Slick Rick my first ropefish, but new ones don't fair as well. I won't be trying to introduce anymore into the tank after this loss. :(
