Ok so he's puzzeling me again. My mini monster has always eaten like a pig... barely letting the silversides hit the bottom without inhaling half the tank with them. Now he's just leasurely taking eating... and not eating as much. Have you guys had the same deals with them? He's constantly worrying me. This is the same monster that has grown 8 inches in 6 weeks :nilly:

PS water params are perfect... and he's since taken down but not eaten my last albino oscar ...

How often and how much are you feeding him? My hybrid will slack off on his eating if I feed him every day. I try to feed him every other day and he attacks his shrimp or pompano ferociously. He might just be getting overstuffed.

Well he's usually fed every day. He eats 4 to 7 silversides or freeze dried krill.he has always ate till his tummy is huge, but no huge belly now.

All good things come to end. Your RTC is normal now :D

I think thats typical of these fish when overfed, they learn theres no need to rush as the foods definately coming. I've had the same thing happen, they seem to lose interest. I feed mine 3/4 times a week and they are very mellow eaters.

I agree.. You could be feeding him a bit too much.. if you must feed him every day then try and fast him for one and if possible two days a week.. but the best thing to do is to feed every other day..

Your definatly over feeding him. Every other day is best and it's not a good idea to feed him until he looks bloated. Your RTC is GOING to grow...trust me. stuffing more food into him in an effort to get him to grow faster is only going to get him used to huge meals and make tankmates far more attractive...especially once he/she hits a foot long or more.

At 50 inches, I feed my RTC only twice a week, 200g of prawns and 100g of Marlin fillets/Chicken fillets....

There was one time I starved it for a month, and he wacked a good 300g of King prawns... foohooooo!

Love my RTC!
