I was looking for a small tank to seperate my baby flowerhorn from my RTGG, and I came across a guy selling a 10G tank + everything (including an oscar) for a cheap price..

I phoned him, and picked up the fish tonight.. I got there.. its was quite a shock to see a 8" Oscar stuffed with some lava rock in a 10G tank. I pretend I knew nothing about fish keeping, and ask how to take care of it.

He said when I get home, I need to fill the tank with just tap water and let it sit for a few hours and I can put it in.. If the fish is a bit doze off, its normal, he will adjust in a few hours.. and it doesnt require a heater.. The fish is approx 6 months old, because the kids want a new pet, he just sell the tank + the fish off cheap

The fish got 2 small holes on the head and pop eye..

Personally I really hate Oscar, but Id feel sorry for it and bought it..

I dont have room to keep, but i can always squeeze him in a new 50G box..

Anybody wanna an Oscar? :O

There's a thread somewhere here on MFK about Petsmart and bad conditions/ poor customer service. I hate to hear of, or see, things like you describe
. I almost saved a similar oscar from a LFS, but he was gone. I hope someone can help the poor guy out! I might have said something to the guy about how misinformed they were. . . only in a nice way.

Good for you. That looks like a good looking Oscar besides the HITH

I'm actually in TO and would love a second Oscar if he would get along with the one I have and is actually nice looking and will heal.

Mine is already 10 inches long though and territorial as hell. I'm sure he'd never allow a friend in his tank with him.

Where about TO are you located. I'd consider trying it but would need a means of returning him in short notice and don't personally have the means for transportation.
