ive had my ck for awhile and he's grown from 5"-14-" he has 5 spots on one side and 6 spots on the other each spot is quite large (3/4-1" diameter) but as he gets bigger i always thought he would get more spots. is this true? or just a random occurence in some ck's

I think it all has to do with the genetics of the fish...I have one with 7 on one side and 9 on the other. Then I have a smaller one with about 15 per side (haven't been able to count them all yet...)
As they grow, the spots change. Sometimes more, sometimes less. So to answer your question...it's random.
