Alrighty just as stated, I'm stocking a 54 gallon corner aquarium. With what you may ask? Well, I really don't know. Everytime I go to my LFS they always seem to have the same fish which are already huge because they get too big for people and thus they take them and can't sell them. I'm willing to buy online, but I've got a couple other stores I'm going to check out first.

Ultimately, I'm looking for opinions. What would you all put in a 54 gallon corner aquarium? I'm looking for fish that either can stay in there for life, or won't need much bigger of an aquarium (maybe up to 75 gallons, might be willing to splurge up to 100 gallons). So please, nothing that'll get big enough that I'll have to get anything bigger than probably a 75. All opinions are welcome, though :)

Since you don't care what kind of fish your getting just buy a few goldfish and enjoy your aquarium. Once you have a developed some kind of idea of what type fish you want, come back and you can get some helpful suggestions.

Building up Benefitial bacteria is always a great idea before investing in fish you will research on.

Make sure you buys a test kit

Yes, cycle it and be ready. Then do an all-catfish bonanza with 2 pictus, 5 glass cats and 4 or 5 "dewabi?" cats. All are day-time active and really cool to see! The glass cats have rainbows in their tissues under a good light! You could probably get away with a heavier stocklist, but why not make it easy on you and the fish and keep it on the lighter side?

Barring that, Try spawning thalasspphryne amazonica.

Or heck, a big fistful of blind cave tetras will totally rock that tank!

Your options are wide open. Do what you like if you've already learned the basics.

Who said I didn't care? I asked for opinions on what people thought I should buy, not people coming in here trying to be a smart aleck. I see loads of other people asking for opinions and rarely do I ever see comments like yours.

Guys, I'm not new here. The tanks cycled and it's ready to go. All I asked for was opinions on stock, not "tank starting 101".

Thanks kevinfleming21 and knifegill for the suggestions, gives me a different perspective (though I already have a senegal bichir :P)

My suggestion was so you don't waste money buying fish that everyone else wants. I only figured you didn't care because you give no clue as to what type tank set up your even leaning toward, planted, community, cichlids, african cichlids, aggressive, wet pet, native, etc. Thousands of fish you could potentially get and you have no idea yourself?

I still think the the cheap goldfish would suit you best.

with a corner tank 54 gal. I think a nice african tank would look good. or A planted tank if you can find a nice peice of driftwood that would go from the top back corner and open up towords the front. then stock with a few cories and either angel or gourami.
