I'm no mollusc expert but that looks like the kind of saltwater snail that is commonly seen in reef tanks.
 
That's not good. He's in a freshwater tank. I should take him back too than.
 
Ok good. I don't really like snails but wouldn't want to kill one. Feeding the Bettas and Corys Fluval bug bites and spirulina and have Hikari sinking carnivore pellets for the Corys. Would the snail do alright on that diet?
 
Assassin snail as others have suggested. Keeps other snail populations in check and will eat off of whatever the fish are fed. Harmless to you.

What you are thinking of is the bumblebee snail, Engina mendicaria, a saltwater snail that looks almost exactly like them. They have a smoother shell though. Funny enough, they are also known to kill other snails (specifically vermetids), I bought a few for that purpose but haven’t seen them do it. Still a beautiful part of the reef though (when the pistol shrimp doesn’t borrow them).
