I was leak testing and finding my happy water level on my sump today in the driveway and was curious...how do you guys restart the siphon after there's a power outage? This is what I'm working with.

That is why you need an overflow, a syphon won't restart when the power comes back, but the pump will, overflowing your tank.

I understand that, Ive changed the black hose in the picture to a make shift overflow with dual inlets with siphon breaks...when I plug the pump back in, everything works like it should....except the siphon never restarts...I wouldve flooded my "tank" at least 5 times by now, what am I missing?

Post some photos of your overflow setup, it will make it a lot easier to see what the problem is.

I figured it out...i had an electric valve in my garage that I can add to the intake plumbing...when the power is on, the valve is open...lose power and it closes, holding the water in the intake pipe...only drain back is from the return...power comes back on, the valve opens, and the water that was in the intake restarts the siphon...tried it about 10 times in my drive way and it worked every time, so this is the route ill take...may seem like overkill or me making it difficult, but it eases my mind lol
